So far the North East Valley Division of General Practice has assisted with the CAT registration of more than 30 practices which represents approx 40% of our total. These practices have been unanimously enthusiastic for the value of the clinical information being accessed. For the first time in a long time the Division believes it has access and through it, our practices have access to an extremely valuable clinical tool capable of making a difference to how a general practice manages and supports in particular its chronic disease patients.
Many practices have repeatedly downloaded updated information designed to reflect work undertaken at the practice in response to earlier findings, reflecting a data cleansing exercise we could only have aspired to 12 months ago. As each change is recorded, the process becomes self motivating as data quality is continually improved and patient management and care becomes more streamlined. As a consequence the small business that is general practice becomes more efficient and more focused in its administration.
Our website has a variety of CAT resources including templates, instructions, PEN Pals Newsletters and statistical CAT reports from a number of practices. These are available for any divisions or practices to use.
We would certainly recommend the CAT tool to any Division of General Practice for use by its local practices, it all comes down to working smarter not harder as the saying goes.
