With the advancement of the APCC program (formerly NPCC), the Clinical Audit Tool (CAT) has been engaged by the Improvement Foundation Australia (IFA) for the next phase of the APCC Program. The APCC report is included in CAT v2-4 replacing the previous NPCC report.
The APCC program now includes Program measures for COPD, Pap Smears, Smoking and Breast Screening as well as increased measures for diabetes and CHD. While this sounds like a lot, CAT allows practices to measure and improve these indicators with ease - look out for our APCC 'Recipe Cards' which will be emailed to you shortly to assist practices and Divisions.
Practices which are part of the APCC Program will be able to electronically submit their APCC measures to the IFA Data Repository. Participating practices will be issued with a token by IFA to be able to submit their data from within CAT. IFA will be contacting practices over the course of the next 2 months to provide a token and arrange for access.
We have created an additional user manual specifically for practices submitting data - 'Clinical Audit APCC User Guide'. This provides information about the report and the submission process. The APCC User Guide along with all current CAT guides is available at http://help.pencs.com.au/cat.htm
Practices which are not part of the APCC Program can contact IFA if they would like more information about the program or they would like to commence data submission. Practices that are not formally part of the APCC Program can work with the Program to submit monthly measures and compare results with national averages.
